Slaughterhouse SHOULD be mainstream so bad. They're one of the few exciting things going on in hip-hop at the moment.

There are many exciting things going on in hip hop. What they SHOULD be doing is releasing albums instead of waiting to get a deal (at least in Joell and Crooked's case). You look at west coast underground rappers like Aceyalone, Micah 9, MURS  and these rappers put out dope releases every year and have accomplished far more.
