you raise some good points but bottomline
1.you can only hate on suge so much (to a certain degree)

not sayin without this coast would be dead...but some would consider him the spinal cord of this cord cuz dre, snoop, xzibit or anyone else wasnt
and we got haters in other regions tryna stop the rise of the coast
so he steps up and does what he does

now fast forward years later

1.he slips up and gets into some heat in the streets
2.he hasnt released as much muzik that he once did or once was releasin

but still what he once did people have to respect him cuz he was there from day 1 and set the standards and in some ways gave a chance for dre, snoop, others to shine
some would say snoop, dre, and others are livin off of suge's help as in what he did
he put them out there and now there successful but without his big push would they be the same?
prolly not...at least not as big cuz he did so much

would he be able to do so much right now? prolly not but then again there's so many hatin on him and prayin for his downfall its hard also to make a come back (whether it be good, helpful or not)
I don't hate Suge... to be honest, while he was in prison, I was very much waiting for him to come back so that Death Row could reclaim the industry, and I still bought every shit product that they put on the shelves, which is more than I can say for a lot of people, even on this forum.  But he had his chance to do it again, and he completely blew it.  He had access to Crooked I (up and coming emcee at the time), Kurupt (established rapper in his own right with classic joints under his belt), Left Eye (well known from TLC), etc., all while sitting on top of several hundred unreleased gems from what was arguably the most fiercely talented and capable record label rosters of all time.  Nothing happened.  NOTHING.  They were on the cover of The Source, XXL, appeared on BET's 106 and Park, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and nothing came of it.

You can say what you want to say about Dre and Snoop having made it to where they are now because of Suge, but that doesn't really matter anymore.  Death Row started over 17 years ago, and both artists left over a decade ago and have virtually severed all ties with the man.  People are waiting on Detox very patiently for far too long, but they will continue to wait and still buy his album when it comes out, and it's not because of Suge or because Dre was on Death Row.  The same applies to Snoop and his endeavors.  It's not like Suge taught them or gave them the knowledge that helped them get to where they're at now, it's just that they happened to have soaked up that game while on his label.

nah i wasnt sayin you were hatin but many have
but yeah whats happened has happened...but IMO alotta credit has to go to what was done before not entirely but alot of it
at the end of the day...suge at one time was like the boss of this coast ( as far as muzik/record deals etc...) and its sad that he isnt doin what he once did, signin artists and actually puttin them out
but again suge accomplished more as a record boss than snoop, dre and many others have but more importantly dre/snoop
so in a sense IMO....hate should be thrown towards snoop, dre jus as much as is thrown toward suge for not puttin artists out especially dre

yeah true last couple of years suge hasnt done nuthin...but go back years suge has done alot
otherwise wed have jay-z, papa diddy pap and others tryna take this coasts shine
dre is a dope producer but he hes had a label and what exactly has he done for his own coast wit that label?
he had some of the dopest rappers from this coast and what did he do to rep his coast wit that label?
im not hatin on dre or defendin suge...but gotta be fair and give props where its due

Seriously?

In the past couple of months, WideAwake has released over 20 unreleased Death Row tracks by Snoop, Dogg Pound, etc.

In the past few years, Suge hasn't put out anything other than repackaged "best of" compilations.

Do the math.  I'd rather have new shit mixed to a less-than-perfect finished product than to have nothing at all.  I don't want to be 50 years old and waiting for the rest of the stuff to hit the shelves.

Damn are you serious? Dre put The Game, Xzibit and Knoc all on the map! What 3 newish West Coast artists have been bigger than those in the last decade?

Absolutely should NOT be given back to Suge.

WIDEAwake actually RELEASES music. No matter what we think of the quality, these are songs that were not leaking otherwise. I give them props where props are due.

If we're gonna throw out pointless, hypothetical scenerios like this one... I say give all Death Row's music to the artists and producers who made it.

1.knoc dont even rep his own city...lol  (but yeah he did put knoc on...the rest is his fault)
2.yeah he put xzibit on the map but why not keep him on the map?

Suge fucked with lots of mainstream non-West Coast people too. It's the music business and whoever either of them could get a record that was hot, they fucked with them. End of story. Some cats blow up, some don't.

shit giving death row back to suge would be like sending a abused child back to the parent that abused it. he fucked up deathrow with his greed and just trying to be more in the spotlight then his own artist. I think Wideawake is doing just fine with what they are doing right now and albums are coming out which would have never seen the light of day if suge had his way. so the answer is clear Hell No

Damn are you serious? Dre put The Game, Xzibit and Knoc all on the map! What 3 newish West Coast artists have been bigger than those in the last decade?

Dre helped to keep Ice Cube relevant aswell as MC Ren with "Hello" but Ice Cube doesn't need Dre, he keeps himself relevant, same with Nate Dogg. As for Xzibit and keeping artists "on the map" I don't think it's fair to expect Dre to work with every artist he ever has and keep working with them on every album, he blows them up and gives them the platform, its from there they needa do their own thing. Knoc repped West Coast hard lol dunno how that can be denied??? I probably wouldn't have heard King Tee if it wasn't for Dre either...

And Rakim? He's from the East coast bro lol

Dre didn't make Game commercial, all the Dre/Game tracks were gutter as fuck. I don't think Dre's ever followed any industry/music trend, he does his own lane, and makes good music, period. People needa stop relying on Dre to help every artist on the West blow up, Dre makes universal music

I don't consider myself a Suge Knight hater.  But I don't think the company should be returned to him.  Biggzy, you seem to act as though Wideawake were the ones who took the company from Suge.  I'm not trying to start a fight here, but Wideawake just bought the company after Suge had already lost it.  Now, I know that they haven't managed the company perfectly either. But I think you have to come to terms with the fact that Suge doesn't have the label anymore.
I hope Wideawake starts managing their company better.  But I'm not going to say that Suge should have Death Row back because I don't think it's very likely in the first place.  But secondly, even if he could get it back, I'm not sure he would manage it any better.  It seems that Wideawake are having some quality control issues they need to work out.  And that's one thing I don't recall the old Death Row ever struggling with.  But on the other hand, Suge's Death Row had plenty of its own problems.  In its final years, he seemed to make the record label into his own forum for voicing personal grievances against former artists.  And in doing so, the label really suffered.  There was a lot of talent on the label, even when it was "Tha Row."  But most of it ended up being wasted.

Wideawake are doing there best to bring death row back where as in the final years all suge seemed to do was drag death row down with him.
