The clarity of the sound is the major difference. You can pick up background effects in amazing detail.You also get a better soundscape/stereo effect with over the ear headphones. With the Dre headphones, the bass is unlike anything I've heard on anything other than a proper speaker system. Comes through crisp and clear.That being said, they are still overpriced.

They're pretty big so it's not too effective to ride a bike and have them on. Matter of fact they're only good if you're at home or workplace.
