You're mainly talking to the dumbasses in the Yankee fan base.  Non-Yankee fans were probably the ones that defended A-Rod's playoff performance the most, knowing that he will eventually put up beastly numbers in the playoffs like he does in the regular season. Get a large enough sample size, and boom he's going to put up similar numbers to his career.
