New Super Mario Bros. Wii
« on: November 16, 2009, 09:59:17 PM »
So I bought this game today. I had bought the original Mario games on Wii, so I had Mario Bros. 1-3, the Lost Levels and Mario World, and my wife and I beat them, so there was nothing left but to buy this game. I can honestly say this game is one of the best games I've played on Wii, maybe second only to Mario Kart. This game is so much fun, and it's great to actually have Mario and Luigi on the same screen stomping on Gumbas and tossing Koppa Troopas, all well reliving that old Mario game play, but with a modern twist. The game is already hitting a higher difficultly than Mario World, but not quite at Mario 3 level yet. I think 2 players is hard enough, I can't see how people play with 4 as between my wife and I, it takes some straight team work to get through the levels. All and all though, an extremely fun game, and I expect it to end like how every game we played so far, saving Peach from turtles, something that looks like a dragon turtle, and little things you put on salad.

Why not try and improve on Mario 64, rather than on Mario World? Mario 64 is one of the most revolutionary games ever.

It's a must have, if they are younger, it might be easier to hide it from them for Christmas. I saw a few parents pick it up, the dads looked excited to play it but the wife was like, that's for ____ on Christmas... lol. I think older guys like us, we think of spending hours playing Mario.

Most youngsters, under the age of 25, were raised on Playstation 1, and from there it's about X Box and PS and what they have to offer. I might have been just at the very end of Nintendo's reign, as I had the SNES, and when that died it was all PS through my high school years.  But I was that little kid playing Mario, and so was my wife, so it was really cool to just sit there together and play at the same time, of course the game is designed for teamwork, so if you play with someone, make sure you guys figure out each others playing style, or it's bumping each other off the cliffs for a few levels.

They did, it's called Super Mario Galaxy. It's one of the highest acclaimed Mario games ever, and got great scores. It's just that the New Super Mario Bros. DS sold so well they decided to put out a Wii version.  They will put out a sequel to Super Mario Galaxy though.

Oh, ok. Man I'm really out of the video game loop. Once upon a time music and sports combined couldn't compete with my addiction for games. Now there's a better chance of me watching a full episode of Smackdown than playing through a game.

Game is straight CRACK!!! My wife and I played it through we hit a canon that blasted us through to level 8 from 5, so we skips levels and beat the game. Bowser is hard as hell, every early Mario game Bowser is a huge let down, and it started exactly the same as Bowser stands infront of the switch to break the bridge his on, so it's like the OG Mario all over, only his bigger. You run through, the bridge breaks, he falls, game over right... hell no, this dude grows like half the screen and starts taking apart his castle, and you are running for your life trying not to get killed. You have to find another switch that drains Bowser, who's swimming in lava. Of course getting to that switch is hard, and doing it with 2 players, let alone 4, is almost impossible because the screen gets so crowded. It's a fun game, truly fun, and now I have to go back and get all these coins because after you beat Bowser they have a level 9, but can only be unlocked by collecting all the star coins. MORE MARIO!!!

I got up early last week to go buy it.  I've played wii more in the last week than I have in the last 2 years.  I love this game.  I played 4 player over the weekend, it's good getting thru hard parts, but it does get crowed too.
