Charlie Weis fired after five years.
thisoneguy360:
It's funny that he got fired from a mediocre team college team and now he's expected to go to a an NFL team

Who would take a chance on a guy that failed bad in Notre Dame the way he did? That's not a rhetorical question. With the current coaches on the market what team out there is thinking of firing a coach and would want Wies. The only team I see that might end up with no one after this is whole mess is Buffalo and maybe they'll take him. I can't think of any team.

you are the one who gave him all the credit for 3 Super Bowl rings, so he may be the greatest coach of all time. ;D

Hey, if he had Peyton Manning at ND he'd have had 4 or 5 BCS rings right now.

he wanted a head coaching job & got one at a prestigious school; problem is, i can't completely put the blame on him.
they lost some close games & the team overall, isn't all that good.
maybe he isn't cut out for head coaching.

The problem with that argument is that college is different than the NFL. In the NFL you have a GM and you don't worry about the players. As a college head coach, you recruit your players, and are responsible for who comes in. If you lose because of bad players, that's on you. When Weis was winning at first, he was winning with Tyrone Willingham's players. Weis himself was not good at the whole college system. Though it's not unheard of for a NFL person to win in college, as Pete Carroll and June Jones each have enjoyed success in college after being long time NFL people.

No, he can't do anything. For example he cannot sit on the bench with 5 minutes left down by three scores and let the back up finish out the game.
