shaq in his prime would shit all over any center past or present. then especially if you have duncan at the 4 guarding his weak side i don't think  kareem or hakeem do as much damange as they would against other centers of their time .

also garnett and lebron on larry bird is more favorable to the new school because lebron would physcially wear down bird  on the O and garnett could more than guard bird on the outside with his energy and length on the perimeter if you have a crowded lane (shaq, duncan, kareem, hakeem)

kobe and jordan cancle each other out and if you have magic guarding paul i don't know how well that works out on either side because paul isn't exactly going to be doing much but feeding shaq, kobe, lebron and whoever else you got, magic definitely wins this offensive battle but i don't think you have chris paul doing much one on one on magic, i see lebron defending magic, kobe guarding jordan, duncan guarding barkley hakeem, and shaq guarding kareem/ewing/robinson, and paul bouncing around with the help d.

i think if this is soley a one on one match up of 5 on 5 , the new school takes it because of the power and physical prowess the new school posses over the old school

again. Shaq REACHING his prime embarressedd a hakeem olajuan in his prime every time after the 95 finals, kareem never demanded the ball much and would even less  on a team that contains jordan bird and hakeem. Kobe and Lebron ....as legendary, greater in stature,  and mythic as jordan and bird are...would in a real head to head game cancel out jordan and bird's presence. and visa versa. If you're putting tim duncan in there against hakeem , the same applies , they probably cancel each other out, however if you put in barkley the game becomes different as it would probably be shaq on barkley and kareem on duncan. Duncan is too 'nice' to play against barkley but not as long as shaq to face kareem.

so if it's 5 on 5 it's new school all day for me

however if it's a 12 man rotation it's old school as you lose depth at the post and shooting guard position to compete with the old school. of corse the new school would have studs like jason kidd, and steve nash to head up with isiah thomas gary payton, and john stockton. but what happens after kobe and lebron. yeah sure there's kg wade and melo, but are you seriously going to want to depend on tmac carter and pierce. when you've got clyde drexler and reggie miller hitting miracle shots?? idon't know. then really now you have dwight howard dirk and chris webber coming to go up against legends. i don't trust any of them to that point yet.

5 on 5===new school
12 man rotation====old school
