The Ninth Gate [1999]
« on: January 14, 2010, 04:57:05 PM »

Great movie, definitely underrated in some places, on Internet Movie Databse for sure, the movie deserves a higher rating. The plot, the acting, the music, the atmosphere in the movie, everything about this movie is great. One of the best films Johnny Depp has been in. What is everybody's opinion about this film? Does anybody know any other movies like this? Another movie that's a bit like this is "End Of Days" a lot of people hate that shit yoo but i like that movie too, always have liked it.

great film, very underrated, i remember when it came out i was reading the reviews and they were all shitty, so didnt see the movie, but after few months there was nothing interesting in videostore and i took this film, damn it surprised me how good is it...

as for similar films you should see Alan Parkers "Angel Heart" with Robert Deniro and Mickey Rourke that is a pure classic, you should consider it watching it few times, then there is "Devils Advocate" with Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves, Roman Polanskis "Rosemarys baby" ," The Prophecy " from 1995 with Christoper Walken and Viggo Mortensen also, great spanish horror-comedy by Alex De La Iglesia "El Dia De La Bestia"....try those titles and if u like them ill recommend some more.

ps. if u like johnny depp in horror mystery movies you should check Stephen Kings "Secret Window" with him,

I just watched "Devil's Advocate" not too long ago, it's a good film. I'm just actually downloadin "Angel Heart" right now. Haven't seen "The Prophecy" yet but i might have to check that one out too. I just find these type of movies interesting.

Angel Heart is very special movie indeed, deep, dark and disturbing, Mickey Rourke and De Niro deliver great preformances indeed, but whats even more interesting is Lisa Bonet-shes really good in this, specially cause shes known to majority of people from Cosby Show, anyway some people hate the movie but majority thats into movies love it. I presume you will like it since you are from Finland where the sun dont shine that much...

I think back in the day around the time this film was out Lena Olin (I think thats what her name was) was a bit of a MILF aswell.

Decent film, I remember watching it years ago.

Angel Heart and Devil's Advocate are far superior movies to me actually.I remember really liking Secret Window, but that was  back when it was released and I don't really remember much but the ending LOL I'm considering rewatching it tho.And props for those other recommendations, I'll be sure to check them out
