Rapper Petey Pablo has denied past reports that he was signed to rap mogul Suge Knight's renowned Death Row Records.

Despite appearing with Suge in public and on magazine covers like XXL, Petey said he never inked a contract with The Row.

"The media takes things and just runs with it," Pablo told DJ Vlad. "See, I never used to be a real media person -- for the record, I was never signed to Death Row. We never had any paperwork, it was just two guys hanging out with each other. And being in the same company in more than a few places -- I know it appeared that way but it was never that. We were cool, when I deal with people, I just don't deal with them on a business level because business people, we do business together but if we have a personal, that's why we were seen a lot together because we had a personal [relationship]. I would go to his parents' house on the holidays because mine were in Carolina, and at the time I was out there with no family so I would spend the holidays with his mom and dad's house..." This is a fact or just a way to separate himself from the label? Because if he WAS signed, the truth will come out one way or another.

He was signed under a management deal to Suge Knight, but wanted to switch labels from Jive to Death Row. However, Jive got wind of it and stuck him in purgatory. Jive and Petey parted ways in like 2007 or 2008. Petey and I did an interview where we touched on this.

See, I believe the reason he's saying this is because it's been keeping him from getting signed to another record label. So, he wanted to bring it to a big venue. However, Petey recorded more than 2Pac in Death Row's studios. Obviously, because of Suge Knight and that work ethic has stayed since then when I interviewed Petey.

First he's saying that In A Minute was edited by FTP now this, I have been a fan of Petey's music ever since Raise Up but fuck him for keep acting like a bitch about his past association with Suge and DR.
If there is one thing Petey and Pac had in common it was their loyalty to Suge and the label. Petey should have just kept quiet about the whole thing, this way it wouldn't become so apparent he's lying his fucking ass off now.

There was a few artists associated with Tha Row but never signed. Petey never claimed to be signed to Death Row before

Tanner already explained it.Im not sure why hes speaking on it now,but whatever.i like his music, his two albums were solid, and the two death row bootlegs were also great.Hes got that hit making ability that a lot of artists lack.I always thought get me out of jail could have been a big single if pushed right. He had a few death row songs as well that could have been big.

Petey wasn't a bad artist... definitely capable of making hits.  I remember how fucking big Freek-a-Leek was when I went to San Felipe for Spring Break in 2004.  Whenever that song played, you were guaranteed to see some girl naked, no joke.

I think if he didn't derail his career by associating with Death Row, he would have went on to be a big name. At least for a few years dropping club hits.
