Yeah, and they had tons of aftershocks that were in the 4-6 range. Also, keep in mind that Haiti wasn't prepared for that type of earthquake to hit. Chile on the other hand has had experience with these really strong earthquakes. They have the strongest ever recorded back in 1960 of 9.5, so their infrastructure is built for earthquakes while in Haiti it wasn't.
