The Atheist Delusion: Answering Richard Dawkins

I usually don't respond to your long ass posts but I've been doing some research into this topic and decided to read it.
It's a good read, I'm sure dawkins can agree that any form of fundamentalism is wrong.

The paper didn't really answer Dawkins' main point of 'The Root of Evil' however.
Dawkins states that religion is brainwashing our children, Taylor doesn't really say anything about this other then agreeing with the statement that nearly every child takes over the beliefs of their parents (ofcourse there are fuckwits like infinite who become a muslim to piss of his parents).

He also says that religion gives us morals that we otherwise wouldn't have but humans made them, doesn't that say that we already had them before they were incorperated into religion.

As for the anti-atheism:
Allot of reliious people almost see science as an ideology on which every folower agrees.
However they fail to realize that science is something evolving in contrary to religion which is never changing.
Another big difference is that when something science claims is wrong, they admit it where religion doesn't.

In the video THETRUGHTHUG posted the man used an 90 year old "scientifical" research. Firstly I doubt it scientifical origin, it was most likely people with an ideology who tried to find scientifical evidence of their views and beliefs. Secondly, like I said science is evolving,  the difference between then and now is huge in science.

A lot of extremely religious people just can't grasp the idea of science. Some just don't want to. They have to believe that their faith has all of life's answers. If they feel like they don't know all of life's answers, then they're fucked.

I think all Taylor is saying is that religion can preserve morals and granted along with that it can preserve a lot of bullshit too. The first scientists were theologians and magicians. The first astronomers were astrologers. Considering the idea of God is a pursuit of knowledge in the same spirit of science, the method is just different, but whose to say that difference in thought is not holistically essential, IMO both perspectives contribute to humankind's aggregate knowledge. People usually consider things from different frames of mind: rationally, then empathetically when approaching a problem.

And Dawkin kind of overlooks this as his book goes after the more fundamentalist aspects of religion, it sometimes falls into characterizing religion in general as rather two-dimensional. In turn, this can stereotype the whole debate. Nevertheless I like atheists, especially vocal outspoken ones.

Bananas:
Some people need religion as it's an avenue for them to concentrate and focus their life on thus providing tolerance and acceptance towards the other ills life provides us. It's not for me or a lot of other people here, but I'm not going to say that all religion should be abolished, we all have handicaps in life. Some of you who claim to hate religion so much on here actually hate a lot of other things...Perhaps you need some sort of faculty that will help you be more forgiving in the day to day...
