The eggs themselves are 100% connected to Christ. According to Christianity mary Magdelene went to Tiberius Caesar with an egg as a symbol of Christ's resurrection and said Christ is Risen. Tiberius scoffed saying no man can rise from the dead, anymore than the egg she held could turn red, and right there the egg turned red.

In the Greek Orthodox Church we say Christ is Risen on the Saturday night at midnight and shortly after hand out red dyed eggs and have done so centuries. You can attribute much pagan customs and relate them to modern Christian tradition but the eggs aren't one of them.
