West Coast Rap and Fans (Artists and Fans, please read...)
« on: June 16, 2010, 12:46:24 AM »
Hey,

Y'all know me as the guy who exposes West Coast rappers for what they do and what they don't such as who they fuck over, what set they claim, yadda yadda yadda.  Well, I wanted to say sorry for letting standards get that low.  I'm an ex-West Coast rap journalist, so telling the truth on people kind of became my thing.  I understand we are discussing rappers and what they do, but sometimes we cross a line. I take full responsibility for any lines I crossed and I want to say sorry for crossing any.

I've crossed the line when discussing a few rappers, nothing personal but I am stating their personal business which isn't a good look.  However, rappers - you must take responsibility for the actions you do.  You aren't completely faultless in this, and you do need to realize that.  Fans, we don't always have to support a rapper and what he does, but what I am saying is I guess we should keep the closed mouth policy.

I've learned one thing being in the entertainment industry and it's this - we eat off rapper's pain and people's money.  You'll never see an industry cat's escapades exposed, but you'll see a lot of rappers or entertainers shit exposed because we make money off that.  This fucked up ass industry makes more money off fucking up people's lives than anything - I.E. Making rappers something they're not, exposing people's lives when we aren't pleased with them for personal gain, etc.

So, we as fans - as people, should be held responsible for any comments we made in regards to rappers.  I understand the internet isn't meant to be taken seriously.  However, I believe certain individuals do take it seriously and it does hurt their feelings.  So, at the end of the day, I am just saying be more respectful of how those people might feel.  Why am I saying this you ask?  Well, it's something you eventually figure out in life.  Keeping it real is good, keeping it real is great, but when you keep it too real - you can hurt people's feelings.  I've done it to people before to keep them from doing something to ruin their careers, but it's not the right thing to do unless you can't get it through their head that something is absolute and utter shit.

Now, for the artists, I understand that you take the feedback very serious when it comes to praise and criticism.  However, you don't seem to take it serious enough when making albums.  If you're a West Coast artist, this forum is essentially your core fanbase.  Have you noticed any time you tried to deviate from the formula in which you have established it goes fucking terrible?  This has happened for a few rappers.  So, if your core fanbase isn't happy with what you got, chances are you should scrap it before you lose fans.  Just stop getting lost in the hype, take the criticism, and make records for your fans and you.

With that said, I am finished with my rant.  Let's just keep some standards on here people, seriously.  I'mma do a post about why West Coast rap is failing in a day or two, you can take my views however you like.  Hopefully, we'll have around the same views.  However, this is something I felt that just needed to be said.  Thanks for your time, if you took the time to read this.

PS: I wanted to send a personal apology to Kurupt, because we've all aired you out a few times. Lol. Also, Warren, Daz, Kurupt, etc. - guys, please learn to take criticism, I understand you guys put what you conceive as your all into your music, but please understand not everybody is going to dig it.

Well, most on the forum don't exercise it. Did you see all the responses making fun of Kurupt for his video?

I counted around five to ten response just straight shitting on the guy, and taking the piss out of him. Half of the artist and fans this site caters to don't even pay attention, they just say the first thing that comes to mind. So I figure for those who don't pay attention to what they say and just whatever fly, I would bring it to their attention. Mind you Nima, a few years you would have been one of the people - the same goes for the rest of the staff around here when you were younger. You cater to a bunch of 14 year old European rap fans who aren't held personal for what they say, and that's mostly what this forum started out with and still is. So, I figure someone needs to help them mature a bit quicker and give them that little steroid shot in the ass.

Oh no i agree with everything you said. Ive been doing dubcnn for 8 years now, i have more dirt on these rappers than perez hilton on hollywood celebrities, but it is not my business to air it out. Im just saying, I knew that from the start, I thought it was odd that it would take you "years" to figure out that you don't speak on other peoples biz. The fans are gonna do what they do though... Thats not a "dubcc" phenomenon though, that's the internet... People can't be held responsible for what they say so they run their mouth...
