Thoughts about Recovery / Eminem / Dre
« on: June 09, 2010, 08:14:34 AM »
Was just listening to Recovery, and I think (i'm sure some on here will disagree) it will be labeled as a classic a few years down the road. And we know Dre only produced one track, which is much less involvement from him than previous Eminem albums. Which got me thinking...

Is Eminem the first Dre understudy to put out a solid / classic album without using a lot of Dre production?

Snoop - Most would agree he fell off hard after Doggystyle

50 Cent - I think most would agree he fell off hard after GRODT

Game - I think Documentary is clearly his best album (borderline classic), and I rarely listen to LAX and DA.

What do you guys think?

I've been saying for awhile that Em is the most talented protege Dre's ever had. Also, he didn't produce any songs on the "8 Mile" soundtrack either and that's some of the best work Em's done. I don't think that Dr. Dre is a necessity for Snoop or 50 either.

i'm tired of people saying Snoop fell off after Doggystyle.  that shit is ridiculous.  and BluePrint 3 was the best Blueprint out of the 3 to me, it's unique especially production wise.  Recovery is a lil weak to me, i think people are just caught up in the mood bcuz it's Eminem and it's new and you know when something is new by somebody is popular shit gets blown outta proportion for somebody in Eminem's shoes.  Tom Cruise ain't makin' no more classics nigga.

Recovery dont go this hard it's cool but it's soft as shit

Yea, Havoc did great on that one. One of the best beats on the album.
