why is boston rebuilding?  they can still keep garnet, pierce and allen
Well they haven't but a reason that they should is cause they don't wanna relive the days where Bird, McHale, & Parish left & they were terrible.  I felt that they shoulda broke up the team & rebuild for the future.  Get some picks & plus its kinda obvious that Stern hates the Celtics & will keep them from getting very high draft picks.  Some say he didn't want them to win the title this year.  If it was a guarantee that they'll win another title that's 1 thing but the GAP BAND=Garnett, Allen, Pierce are a year older, best to trade them a year earlier than a year later.

And those who are sad about the Laker Celtic rivalry being dead, hey it happened before.  It died in 1992 when Bird & Magic retired.  Besides, there are times when you gotta learn to like something else.

I think the death of Len Bias and Reggie Lewis also hurt the Celtics rebuilding in the late 80's, early 90's.

Why the hate for the Celtics/Lakers rivalry. I am someone who grew up watching it, had hoped to see it revived again, and am glad to have 3 great years of it. It's not the 10 year struggle of the 60's, or the 4 year classic of the 80's, but it was 3 years of hard playing basketball that will fit into the story nicely. Until both teams reach this level again.

You know tho man, the rivalry is NOWHERE near what it was during the Bird/Magic years.  The Celtics have really only been good the last few years and the recent Laker teams dont exactly drop any jaws like the Showtime Lakers did. The three-peat Lakers were very good. But this current squad isnt seen as great in anyway.

I think what I was saying was hard playing basketball, not great playing basketball. With all the teams, the talent is more spread out, so naturally teams aren't as good as they once were. So I don't count the lack of talent against the current era, I like to judge by great effort, and that's what we got this last finals, and every game since that blow out game 6 in 2008.

I dont agree man. The talent shouldnt be much more spread out. I mean, there are a few more teams...but the amount of talent worldwide is far deeper than ever.  And like I said, the three peat Lakers was a great squad. Still part of this era.  There just doesnt seem to be that greatness in this current Laker squad compared to then. And the current Celtics clearly arent the Celtics of Birds era.

See, in the older days, HoFers were on the same team, even up to the 90's in some cases like the Bulls. But now you have people like Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay as max contract players. Really? These are not star players, and 20/30 years ago they'd be great talent that supports a major star. Rudy Gay would not lead the Memphis Grizzlies, but instead might be in Atlanta with Johnson, both would not have their own team. So in theory, with international talent coming in, and just players being better, you'd think that teams would be more competitive, but that is not the case. I mean, in no way are these Laker teams better than even the 2001 Lakers, BUT, they have been the best team in the NBA two years running, and the first team since the 2000-2002 Lakers to repeat as champions. What does that say about the League?

The older days are less then 10 years ago tho man. Kobe/Shaq are both future HOF'ers. Duncan/Robinson both future (Robinson already) HOF'ers. Wade/Shaq both future HOF'ers. And in just the earlier part of THIS decade we had a great team with the Lakers. The Spurs have had a couple of great teams during their run. Things havent changed THAT much since then. I think its more about how teams play together. The great Bulls teams had two HOF'ers in Jordan and Pippen. But their role players were..eh...at best. But those teams were great.

thats nonsense tho man. Youre only as good as you perform. Being strong mentally is just as important as being strong physically. This current Laker squad has NEVER been head and shoulders above other good teams in the league. They won the title, so yeah..they were the best this year. But they NEVER give you the impression of greatness.

And the current Celtics clearly arent the Celtics of Birds era.

we lolligag alot, we just cruise through the season and postseason and only try when it comes down to the wire, we have enough talent on this team to beat the 16-1 record that the 01 champions had

thats nonsense tho man. Youre only as good as you perform. Being strong mentally is just as important as being strong physically. This current Laker squad has NEVER been head and shoulders above other good teams in the league. They won the title, so yeah..they were the best this year. But they NEVER give you the impression of greatness.
I have to disagree. In 2008, they went 12-3 through the playoffs before getting beat my the Celtics. And this year they closed out all the games they were suppose to. On top of that they are still the favorites to make it to a 4th straight finals appearance.
