Well, when you promise an artist a certain share, and promise of sales through "predictable" figures, and you eventually receive enough (later than expected) just to pay a months rent from material that came from Can Am with the likes of DJ Quik & Aaron Hall behind it fully mastered, then you can understand why he'd be p*ssed

They could have flooded free-form networks with his videos, and submitted tracks to various outlets. I know personally that London based "Solar" radio dig Danny Boy and actually played Too Late Playa (untagged) during it's high-peak leak time, and it has a large listening audience in London and over England. They don't work very well, and these are things that don't cost a considerable amount of money, in fact - most can be done free these days, communicating via e-mail, sending WAV files via e-mail, and uploading to free uploaders. And that is just the start. Should Wideawake have considered paying a "little" amount from their financier promising them the kind of sales they suggested to Danny Boy, they probably would have made a decent share back.

Danny Boys project was firmly in the hands of Lavi, and it certainly never came out the way intended.

You have Chronic re-lit that comes out, and is a great concept with the title, re-covering etc. and the company had teething problems starting out, with flaws such as the additional DVD tracks, which was forgivable, but the quality of the Snoop release was the downfall. Danny, Snoop, Daz, Crooked, and a few others were on board until the quality resembled the likes of a low budget Japanese bootleg Cassette Tape from a company that was renowned for quality released. They have not only shat on the artists, but the label as well

That's WA's biggest issue - you encapsulated it perfectly... Forum members know how to market and promote better than the "professionals."

Lol. You know Danny's watching everything you and WIDEawake say right now, right? So is Chi, he also knows you pose as him. Lol. Keep pretending to be important, maybe it'll work out for you one day.

People talk a lot of negatives on Danny Boy on this thread, but what people fail to realise is that his album was very close to being released in 1995. Should that have happened like intended, then it would have went platinum easily. Jodeci were big then, and so was Death Row, and Smooth R&B was a big market in the mid 90's. R-Kelly, Boyz II Men, Monica, Montel Jorden, Keith Sweat and to lesser groups/artists like All-4-One, and a few others were in the top 20 biggest singles through out 94-97... Plus R&B was a smooth, sex-like genre in the 90's, and Danny was very young with a budget big enough to have a full 3 video with airplay LP. Let's not take away his incredible talent at such a young age of 17 back then. This is WIDEawakes problem. They could release a 2Pac album next month, and trust me it wouldn't even sell 100,000 copies. That's WIDEawake's fault for not putting effort into their releases. I believe they were naive at the start into believing that they could simply buy - what used to be -> a powerhouse label, and that by putting minimal effort with their own site, and a few mag ad's, and cost-cutting projects to get them released to the retailers would see significant returns, but anyone can simply look at mainstream and see that 90's, and today is waaaay different, and that the main fan base has shrunk from millions to just a few thousand, and even those thousand don't know anything about the releases besides up to a couple of hundred frequently on these forums.

I don't buy Hip Hop mags ever, simply due to hating mainstream. I don't want to read BS on Wayne, or Drake, and I just enjoy listening to "good" current music. I couldn't give a shyt about hearing about their lifestyles, or seeing fashion I'd never wear in my life.... Point is, how would I have known that Chronic re-lit was even out??? I don't live in the US, let alone the state town that had a few chalk chronic leafs on the paving so me being a fan of DR, would have never known, and there are thousands out there. It just has to reach them somehow, and there are up to hundreds of thousands, (maybe millions) of impressionable young kids they could market it to as well

As said many many times before, they need to pay someone to remaster up to 20-30 unreleased "relative" songs, and re-release that original catalog with bonuses to their related release, open up low offers for licensing to high profile media company's, and regain interest in the label, and remind, as well as generate 'new' interest toward a 'new' generation. Once they do that - then they can put out this unreleased material, and it's more likely they would then have the support from 3rd parties to get either finance, push, or assistance in areas that they are in desperate need of to make this WIDEawake/Deathrow label a success, make fans happy with quality releases, and actually have their own 'fans' of the music speaking good on them, because when a majority of Death Row fans speak badly on 'not' spesifically the music itself, but the quality, then how on earth can they expect it to proceed further than the tiny amount of DR fans left?
