Definetly pick up 'Business Casual' on the 14th. Its better than their first 2 albums.

hell no, i'd cap this one at the first 7 tracks and the sequencing isn't ideal either. fancy footwork is far superior as a whole LP. i definitely dig the different sound they were going for on here...more classy electro night style vibe. it works superbly when it works (the two singles) but shit like 'grow up' has gotta be one of the worst chromeo tracks so far, really not appreciating that one or 'the right type'.

got my pre-order down anyway, 'tis a must-buy 8)

and that "contagious" track is another highlight.

yeah that's a great one, although i didn't think the intro part was necessary. the first four tracks are straight awesome, then it gets a bit more hit and miss. too many sounds and poor sequencing compared to fancy footwork. don't get me wrong, constant rotation since it leaked...but i stop at track 7 and have re-arranged the order a little.

Ace video (in the link) with Chromeo on their vintage production gear, synths, influences and the talkbox 8)

"Electric Independence: Chromeo"

http://www.motherboard.tv/2010/9/21/electric-independence-chromeo

Chromeo may be the only Arab/Jewish electrofunk duo on the planet. Let that mixture be a smooth metaphor for their unique sound, a blend of fancy synthesizers, a talk box, old computers, and older funk phrasings, torn from the days when the lords of the disco wore white suits and Jheri curls.

But even if Patrick “P Thug” Gemayel and David “Dave 1” Macklovitch, who met in high school in Montreal, unabashedly worship at the altar of Hall & Oates, they keep one ear to hip hop too, turning knobs on their drum machines the way they turn festivals into disco funk jamz.

But they’re not all hot nights and cool suits: until recently, Gemayel put his business school acumen to work as the band’s tour manager, and Macklovitch is earning his PhD in French literature from Columbia. Dissertation topic: “Theorizing the Pleasure of Reading in Eighteenth Century France.”

But right now, he’s all about the pleasure of getting down. In advance of their new album Business Casual, Motherboard visited the groove scientists at home in Montreal to sample their secret synth sauce, and see how it’s made.
