i saw it this weekend. its definetly one of those movies that when you walk out, your brain is like scrambled eggs. its a lot to swallow. very gruesome fight scenes. great story on a subject that many people aren't in the know about.

trauma-what did you think about when they showed the evolution of new york at the end? they showed it with the twin towers standing. maybe i'm looking to deep but this is what i thought: after everything that was happening to new york at the end of the movie, with riots and looting everywhere, and the union armed forces actually firing on its own city, destroying buildings, launching  attacks from boats in the harbor, i was literally thinking "how and the hell did this city ever survive?" kind of like the state of things in new york and even the US circa 9/11. he showed that we have overcome things that we even greater than 9/11, and everything turned out ok. i think thats why he showed the twin towers in the skyline at the end. i don't know, maybe not. what do you think?

Hmm, I dunno if he intentionally meant that, but I do believe it was meant as a way to show, "LOOK WHAT THE HELL NY HAS BEEN THROUGH" I don't know if he meant any kind of comment on sept. 11th.  The thing I thought when I saw it was, 1 "I wanna go visit Priest's grave" LOL and, 2, as distant as the story may seem, these are the 'hands that built america' like u2 sang in the theme song they had playing.  Peace~

I think this comes out January 10th in the UK. Can't wait to see it myself.

This was an incredible movie, It's probably been said a thousand times by now but Daniel Day-Lewis had an incredible performance.  For people who want to know more about this kind of stuff check out "How the Irish Became White" by
Noel Ignatiev, its really illuminating on the time period and race relations in the 19th century.
