Lyrics Born is the most frustrating artist ever, because at one time I thought he was the future for rapping, he had so many flows and concepts and such a cool voice and half-sung some of the lyrics and did different voices and shit.
Some of his verses on stuff like Storm Warning, Latyrx, and Lady Don't Tek No were next level.

But once he had gotten known from doing classic stuff, he switched and started doing this cheesy 80s sounding pop-funk stuff, and he hasn't managed to get back on track. Also at some point he started letting that female singer he collabs with doing loads of generic R&B hooks on everything. It's particularly annoying because he was so inventive on the earlier stuff! Every verse was like a new style and intricate and varied. Now it's all cliched 80s pop, it's like an ironic joke that's gone too far.

He should convince DJ Shadow to produce an album of all 'Latyrx/Storm Warning/Lady Don't Tek No' sort of stuff, and pick off where they left off to make an incredible classic.
Have loads of great styles and new things and concepts.
Also should have Lateef and Gift of Gab on there, but don't let them punch-in, make them record their stuff real raw and skillful like the older stuff.

It's like I hate even having to say that kind of thing, because the guy is so talented, but he took a wrong turn somewhere
