Black Rob Ducks Down From Bad Boy Records
« on: October 28, 2010, 08:32:49 AM »
Don't Know If This Was Posted Already But Here It Is Anyways....... 8)

Former Bad Boy Records artist Black Rob has announced his official departure from Diddy's label and signing to renowned indie company, Duck Down Records.

According to a press release, Rob will drop his post-jail release Game Tested & Street Approved under Duck Down next year.

"The people have been asking for true hip hop music, and that's what I'm giving them. I stayed away from features. I've been away for 4 joints, so I feel the people deserve to hear me. When I came home, I went right to work, and didn't have time to reach out to cats. On my next project you will get that. As for producers, I have some up-and-coming cats on there. I believe in giving cats a chance. As far as named producers you may hear a joint or two from Buckwild, Self Service, Bishop, Scram Jones and Pete Rock." (Press Release)
Rob also justified his move from a major record company to the indie label.

" always respected their movement and also been a fan of their music. If I'm going independent why not go with a team I respect, and they have always had a true family setting & environment." (Press Release)
Prior to the statement, Rob recently said he would consider signing a new deal with Bad Boy.

"I would sign to Bad Boy again. I would sign to them again if push came to shove. I would sign a contract with Bad Boy again, 'cause now I know the business side of everything. I can't get jerked. Not saying that Puff jerked me, but now I know the business side so I can go at this a little bit different now. I can go in there with some knowledge, knowing that you can do this and I can do this, and you can't do this...I want this, this what I'm supposed to have, where's it at?" (Hip Hop DX)
However, he later revealed his issues with Bad Boy and the company's marketing behind his 2005 album, The Black Rob Report.

"As far as all the people at Bad Boy, nobody reached out to me [when I was in jail] because all it takes is the press of a button, department of corrections, you know my name and birthday, I used to work here," Black Rob said in an interview. "When I heard this n*gga went to see [Lil] Wayne in jail and you ain't come and see BR? After all the years we spent together? Like, that sh*t didn't mean nothing to you, dawg? You actually think I'm not your man? So that right there, told me, that n*gga was never my man. You had like 50 employees, you ain't even have to write the letter -- Puff wasn't the one doing the records with me, he was just the last word. 'Good record. I like that, I wanna get on that.' He's not in the studio, 20 hours, 15 hours with me, never. It wasn't no love over there man. It wasn't no love. Dudes was just using, just trying to use me...They used the Black Rob Report as a spring board for the Biggie duet album. Puff wasn't doing nothing. He ain't have no records out. It was dry, everybody was going." (This Is 50)

The album would be dope if he works with the in house producers on there. Marco Polo comes to mind.  8)

yeh fuck bad boy and these bug ass labels they dont care about you none of them do they just use you to get them richer! Thats why I like to see these indi companys finally gettin the respect they deserve. Duck down has real mc's from the 90's and now starting to get some of the younger artists like rustee juxx an marco polo on there roster!
Black Rob gets Marco Polo on production is gonna be fire!
