The two countries I'm spending time in have had less war than Americans have had over the last two hundred years.
Not every African country is like Rwanda, Somalia, Liberia or Sierra Leone. The people in the countries I've been going to, Senegal and Gambia, are very peaceful by nature; even amongst other tribes or religious groups. They are predominately Muslim, but when Christians go there as missionaries or with the peace corp they always come back saying that they have newfound believe in world peace after seeing these countries. The respect for other traditions is celebrated in the country.
And it's not about being a tourist, when I am there I am seeing the same thing anybody else is seeing, the countries are small, and with a little effort and some decent connections you can travel the whole country.

Or how about I just do what I want with my life and don't give a fuck about stereotypes because they don't exist in reality. In reality, we are all individuals and there is no such thing as groups. People follow groups only when it's beneficial for them as an individual, as soon as they aren't getting anything out of it anymore, suddenly they become and individual again. That's the real.
