Black Swan (Natalie Portman,Vincent Cassell)

<< < (2/2)

Elano:
Black Swan is nothing short of a brilliant film and easily one of the best films of the year.   Intense, unnerving and beautiful, Black Swan harks back to Aronofsky's Requiem For A Dream in all of the best ways (although the film also shares many thematic similarities with The Wrestler).

Like many of the best films, Black Swan was a labor of love for Aronofsky.  Aronofsky began thinking about the story over 15 years ago and five years later, around the time when he was making his debut feature Pi, the first version of the script was created.  Over the years the story took on new forms eventually integrating Swan Lake and that story's inherent themes and elements to best show the extreme physical and psychological downward spiral that Natalie Portman's character undertakes.

Honestly, Darren Aronofsky never disappoints. My least favorite movie so far was The Wrestler and that got the most critical acclaim. My favorite being a tie between Requiem and The Fountain.

Will be seeing this for sure.

Saw it tonight. I enjoyed the movie but it may not be for everyone. It was more Requiem For A Dream than it was The Wrestler.

Good stuff though.

Darkwing Duck (The Reincarnation):
i dont have time for any new or recent movies - but the hype/buzz for this is astronomical, so i might give in soon..
the kids gave it a 9 rating on imdb.com  8)
