Do you remember when we had to rent video games??
« on: December 15, 2010, 06:30:22 PM »
I was thiking about it today and how cool it was as a kid.

I had to wait to the week end to rent  nintendo game and most the time it only had one damn copy!!!

So getting it would be a big fucking deal. Nintendo magazines would hype the games up, have cheat passwords or secrets.

Nintendo even had a hotline!!

Also like i said video stores back then wasent the big chains we saw in the late 90s and early 2000s so there was 1 or 2 copies.

Rent them on saturday morning till sunday ( we coulnt get them for a week)

I remember those days well. I should remember the first game I ever rented but I'm drawing a black. It was the late 80s and it was from this no name store around the corner. I do remember renting the Nintendo 64 from this Chinese rental store the summer before it was released in the US. Mario 64 looked so unbelievable to me and my friends when we first saw it. I can only imagine what we would have thought in 96 if we saw some of these PS3 and 360 games.

Yeah no name stores was the norm then..

If we saw them in 96 we would trip the fuck out.... but i mean now the jump from Nintendo to SNES to 64 was greater.

Man when they came out with 64 was a good times. We were smoking a lot of weed, not going to school chilillin games like ummm Mario was amazing i still wanna play it i never actualy owned that game.. Killer instinct was great too we would have huge tournaments high as fuck. Zelda came out and that was retarded good.

I was always a bigger Sega supporter in my youth. I cheered for the underdogs, but I had just about every system. And when I mean ever I mean there is an Atari Jaguar collecting dust in my basement.

my late great-uncle used to own a lil rental store when I was little.
The games it had were for SNES and Genesis, and I would always rent a Genesis game everytime I went. 8)

Anyone up on the old games should pick up a GP2X Wiz (Google it if you don't know about it).
Anyone have one on this forum? I have, and i've got ALL SNES, NES, Megadrive, Master System, Game Gear, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance games on it.
We should have an appreciation thread on this forum for it.
