It's Time......
« on: December 28, 2002, 09:46:35 AM »
I'm bored as fuck, so I figured I'd set shit off and start a best Albums of the year thread.  I'm actually pretty suprised no one has posted one yet.  I guess cause it's been a relatively weak year for the west coast(as my list will undoubtedly show).  So heeeeeeere we go...

1)Common - Electric Circus (This album is on a whole other level.  The vibe of this album just puts in a whole different funky space.  Add that to Common's fresh lyrics and you got an Album of the Year)

2)Snoop - Paid the Cost to Be the Boss (I know most of you hate this album, but I can't stop listening to it.  I've been listening to the whole thing front to back, every day since I got it on nov 26.  Fresh beats, and Snoop finally put some life back into his flow and put down some respectable lyrics)

3)Eminem - The Eminem Show (This is a dope album.  Em really made his own kind of unique sound with this album, mostly beats with electric guitars and shit, gives his a kind of Beastie Boys feel which is cool cause it's different from everything else out now.  Plus you got Em's top notch lyrics and his now untouchable flow.)

4)DJ Quik - Under the Influence (Quik really tried a new sound with this album. He dropped all the synthesizers and funk that he did so well and came up with new sound which is like a mix of early 90's beats with a modern feel.  Still sounds dope as hell, plus good guests and can't forget Quik's Groove.  It's damn shame he's not gonna make any more albums.)

5)Cee-Lo Green and his Perfect Imperfections (This album is seriously fresh. I mean he produced all the joints himself and the lyrics are all over the place from pimpin' to bein' your self to havin faith. Just a very refreshing album. Just a little to long at 20 tracks).

Albums I didn't hear but probably belong on this list:
1)Scarface - The fix
2)Jay-Z - Gift and the Curse
3)WC- Ghetto heisman
4)Luniz(forgot the title)
5)Canibus - Mic Club

Honorable mention: Choclair - Memoirs of Blake Savage(Canadian artist but this is a seriously funky album, it's got that modern g-funk sound.  Check it out if you get a chance it's got that song skunk feat. Kurupt)

Nas - God's Son (solid followup to Stillmatic, I just fuckin hate the Bravehearts that why I didn't put it on my list).
Feel free to shit on my list or post your own.

You didn't put it on the list cause you don't like the group the artist is trying to put on?   ::)

5. Mobb Deep - Infamy (Can't remember if this was released Dec 2001 or Jan 2002)
