The Game's Lawsuit With Publishers Desperado Ent
« on: January 09, 2011, 07:28:06 AM »
Since, this topic has come up in a couple of game threads in relation to the major push back of RED album, I thought I would create a thread to clear some issues - as this is quite a big topic in itself, yet interscope has probably tried to place some media silence on it.

basically Games sold his publishing rights to Desperado Ent years ago before he signed with aftermath, and once he got signed to aftermath they struck a deal on the amount of money each party would receive. Game no longer in business or even in contact with Desperado Ent no longer wants to see them receive checks and royaltys for $100,000's of what should be his own money.

this lawsuit was struck when Desperado received no share of the advance for the RED album, and stopped receiving royalties - the lawsuit basically demands for the moneys to be paid and all release of music to be stopped until done so.

this was then the reason why the single with Timberlake and the other one with Pharrell were both shelved, even though videos were shot for them! and ultimately the lengthy postponement of RED album,

personally, I believe a settlement will be reached where Interscope / Game reach a deal to buy out Desperado ENT of any further rights to Game's career - I think the gameplan now is to starve Desperado ENT of any moneys by not releasing anything for a long time untill a settlement becomes the only viable option for them

Below is the lawsuit ACCORDING to the representatives of Desperado ENT, it does not mean everything there is fact or will be agreed upon by both parties,

Warning to future artists:

DON'T DO DUMB SHIT LIKE THIS
Cool breeze; I'm hopping out of new Beams
My outfit ran me a few G's but none of that will matter if you leave
I used to be an Adam with two Eves and shawtys automatically do me
Excuse me, all that happened before you doesn't matter
I'm a vision of the future climbing the success ladder
Recline, in the mean time, twenty three shine, diamond bling blind as I rewind

props for the info. so if this suit has to be fully resolved before any future game releases, it's fair to say R.E.D. is not actually coming out any time soon?

Maybe there's something I'm missing but how exactly is Desperado Ent. the bad guys? If they paid for the publishing, they should get what's owed to them. If nobody over there bought them out of that deal before Game hit the big time, that's on Game's people or Universal, Interscope, Aftermath, G-Unit, whoever. You make a business contract with someone, you should honor that. If these dudes don't have a legal foot to stand on, I'm sure Interscope's lawyers will eat them alive but otherwise, what can you say?

well not that it really makes a difference, as it wasn't coming out anytime soon anyway.
