THE BARN CONCERT SERIES FOR WINTER 2011 presents legendary hip-hop artist Beans and special guests JEL and Odd Nosdam on Wednesday, January 26 at The Barn at UC Riverside!

Accomplished abstract poet. Early architect of electronic-infused beatscapes. Founding member of legendary left-field rap act Anti-Pop Consortium. Childhood Kiss fan. So reads the résumé of the estimable Beans, a New York native raised in the suburb of White Plains, New York. Born in ’71, Beans came of age alongside hip-hop. This Wednesday January 26, Hip Hop Legend Beans performs alongside his new Anticon Record label-mates, the infamous JEL & Odd Nosdam performing new material from his 2010 Anticon debut, End It All.

His crunchy punched-out beats and swells of low-bit atmospherics have become anticon trademarks, highly sought after by artists around the globe. Jel was one of the first, if not the very first musician to use the drum machine in live performance like a drum kit with little to no sequencing. In collaboration with Jel, Odd Nosdam, has made deep forays into the far side of sound, first gaining wide acclaim for the megaspheric drone and warped pop of his former group cLOUDDEAD (with fellow Anticon founders Why? and Doseone); more recently, working closely with Mike Patton on his Peeping Tom project and remixing tracks by a variety of bands including The Notwist, Danielson Famile, Serena-Maneesh and Boards of Canada.
