dj polo was more of a dj than a producer ala jazzy jeff & fresh prince.. a dj + rapper duo was very popular in the beginning of hip-hop

Take DOC's album 'Duece'.  It's marketed as a DOC album, but he is barely on it, yet he gets production credit on nearly every song.  It really was a 6Two album.

exactly .. that's how it's done

artist gets full credit for their solo album

producer then comes with an album where they get full credit for their own album

unless they come out as a duo ala eric b and rakim


i would've hated for thriller to have been marketed as a michael jackson x quincy jones album ... honestly defeats the purpose of a producer building an artist
