ok ya'll i'm taking this class called "music appreciation" at my college and at page 618 in the text this is what it EXACTLY SAYS:



"by 1990, rap had adopted stylistic features from other forms of popular music and had begun to attract new audiences. there was a successful rap show on cable television; rap artists included dr.dre, snoop doggy dogg, ice cube, and de la soul. by the end of the 1990s, rap and rap-flavored rhythm and blues moved into the mainstream and dominated the recording sales charts. Even recordings of the controversial gangsta rap - with its deliberately antisocial and sexually explicit lyrics - had enormous sales."

yes i know its only one paragraph compared to 500 pages of middle ages, baroque, classical, romantic style, etc. etc. etc....i just thought it was cool to see that espeically for a class..

Yeah, that's cool.  When I took it, we devoted the full last day to the Beatles, I thought that was awesome.

yeah we talk about jazz and rock too but not too long...mostly the middle ages, classical, baroque, renaissance, etc. ..romantic period was the hardest....
