why is dr dre 2nd album called 2001?

Two classic albums droped that day and both streetz n 2001 still get heavy rotation

streets, i want it all, classic220 and chronic 2001 all came out the same week if im not mistaken...i worked at a moms and pops record shop in the hood back then we used to put shit on the shelves before its release date as we would often get albums 2 weeks early and i think i remember us getting them all at the same time.

I am like 80% positive that it was not released in 99..it came out in 00 or 01...same day as kurupt's streetz iz a mutha

november or october 1999....i remember i was in 10th grade and skipped first period to go pick it up...kurupt also dropped in 1999..i think a month or a week before..

lol I have the exact same story.  10th grade, skipped class to wait for the record store to open.  I remember there was a few of us that went.  The guy at the store was like "we need to order more of these NOW" lol

12th grade for me.  we didnt have off campus lunch so we left during lunch time and came back.  i remember coming back and flashing the cd through the hallways.

Becuase Dre's intensions was to put out chronic 2000.. But death row records found out and beat him to that album name..

Death Row sued saying the name "Chronic" was theirs. So Dre dropped the "Chronic" from the name and just added a leaf on the cover to represent it and changed the year from 2000 to 2001.
