When, wear and why did we start wearing them ?

Obviously the Religious theory is comical that Adam & Eve had a new found awareness of their own modesty and covering there privates after a talking snake persuaded them to eat an apple of the forbidden tree...

I have an alternatively theory: that clothing was invented in the early early ages by people who marketed clothes in a way to the attract the consumerist within us ..
