Why Can't Artists Just make Good Music?
« on: April 28, 2011, 11:59:29 PM »
I say this seriously!

niggaz be makin some boo boo azz music B!

that new quik is soooooo average. I bring this up because like most know there was a skit on the wu tang clan's 36 chambers album. And you heard Raekwon speaking about how he knows his music is good. because It's Because it's something "HE" wants to hear. Like niggaz know what we want THEY KNOW i'll be damned if niggaz act like they dont know what we like.

GOOD MUSIC!

And i reference wu tang cuz they went on probably the best Run in hip hop history. all they in OWN group(not label like death row, loud, rawkus, def jam)

you guys kinda get my drift? We know what we want to hear and thta is music.

:ook at for example E-40 dude continiously puts out good music. he knows what HIS fans what. THAT MOBB SHIT!!! that hyphy shit was MOBB too str8 trunk rattling shit B!

i  mean honestly i could see how a major label artist couldnt do that cuz they dont full control of their music. But look at Lupe Fiasco??? he came out with one of the better albums this year. and the label didnt wanna drop that shit CUZ IT WAS GOOD!!!!!!!!! he even says in the album they wanted to change him read the inserts and thank yous(reason i still buy albums son)

My point being most of these rappers from anywhere not just westcoast who are INDEPENDENT ARTISTS who have nobody holding them back have NO REASON to put out weak azz shit man. Like seriously. if i were making an album then i would put time and work blood sweat and tears into that muthaphukka B!

like seriously when i hear bullshit like lil' b(has a good BEAT every now an then) im just thinking to myself WHAT THE FUCK IS HE THINKING PUTTING SOME OF HIS SHIT OUT! i know damn well he got common sense to know what is good. EVERYONE KNOWS!!!! like every fucking album daz, kurupt,dj quik, warren g,snoop dogg, put out theres niggaz saying it's fucking dope an that shit AINT MAYNE!!!! like i know everyone got an opinion but i know damn well they dont be bumping some of those albums for more than a DAY! thats not good music.

i remember when i bought Mobb Deep's Infamous CD and that shit was in my CD player for a WEEK and a half!!! thats good music. And i am comparing albums to classics because artists standards should be high on every album!

sorry for my grammar i know it's terrible ya'll but fuck it yall niggaz can read

Whether the music artists make is good or bad is up for the individual listener to decide, not you.
Though I do agree that the compliments rappers make about other people's albums are fake as fuck, it is an old way of getting buzz at another one's expense. And since this is a society that values opinions more than knowledge, it's still used today and just as effective.

Your probably asking the wrong people though. On this forum artists get criticised if they don't change their style and hate on those who do change their style (ex. DJ Quik).

If I died tomorrow here are the loves of my life in order

1 my daughter
2 music
3 my mother
4 my baby momma

Yes music is 2. So I love it to death. Which is why it hurts me to see that music of basically all genres has sucked for years now.

Worst part is guys like daz & kurupt who started off as well respected mcs have put out so much trash they've successfully managed to lose that legend title.

Nowadays music is too easy to create. Back in the days you didn't have all these programmed drums and sounds that current producer sets have.

Its a fact of life not every artist can constantly put out good shit their whole career. These are dudes in their 40s who have been making music for 20 years and maybe the passion just isn't there anymore. Some rappers can still tear it up as they get older, some can't. Just enjoy the ones who you think can (in your case 40), pass by the ones who can't (dpg), and give a chance to the new artists who are trying to come with some heat.

It all depends on the primary reasons why an artist/producer will want to get into the industry

If they want to get into it for the sole reasons of only fame, or fortune (or both of those things) then you can best believe they will only work hard to a point where they get those things from the industry, and to the point where they're established enough to work with minimal effort for those same two things further on, and that effort shows in the end product. But it doesn't matter because they still have those classics under their belt to go back to, and live off of, milk, and get ...

Others who have an average (but not brilliant) talent, and who want to be a good name may be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time either on a label with talented employees, or have family or friends/affiliates at the time able to provide a lot of leg work, and build them up... See Dre on Aftermath - with Scott Storch, and Elizondo for example. When those people leave, and others depart labels, you sometimes see a natural decline as a result of missed support, help, and ground work.... A lot of artists (and producers) get caught out this way on how much they actually do

Then there are those who get into the industry hungry, so hungry in fact that they over-do themselves and create 5-6 years worth of hot work, then run out of steam

There are those though, who want to get into the industry to smash it, make an impact, and create a iconic legacy, and be remembered as being one of the greats,,, and those are the people we would want to support of course.... The problem with these people are, that labels have a lot of employee/management issues with them... Being true artistic individuals, who have genuine vision for their own image, and music, They want to put out what "they" want, and what "they" believe is right... Labels don't really want to work with artists who will be a headache when told what they want from them... That's why it's easier to hire these fame-hungry acts, and young naive artists with little talent because lyrics can be bought easily, ex-musicians from schools, and internet producers, and so on can all be bought cheaply in 2011... Far easier for them to mold fame-hungry kids after quick cash, than it is to mold someone like Mos Def, Immortal Technique, Raekwon etc.... & That right there is why we have an industry in the state it is.. Because the corporate heads want that quick cash, than to build standards, and create an industry with confidence and integrity for the future generations...
