Hootie made me change my mind after a little time...

03/10/2011:

dammitimmad - damm it im mad (now retype that backwards)

i wasn't expecting some masterpiece piccasso or all of that but damn Hootie, i know u can do better than that my nigga.  There were a few bangers on tha tape "Fonk Love: Flight To Da Motherland" but not enough to satisfy the hype.  i was expecting Hootie to tell more about his life and Bompton but instead we got BrickSquad throwaway cliche' tracks and watered down and offbeat flows.  And the production was a little lackluster (not just straight up horrible but BrickSquad got better ears than that, u have 2 to be apart of BrickSquad).

maybe Hootie will kill it next time around, it's not like it's the end of the world completely.  but come on Hootie, u know like i know that there was way too much BrickSquad influence all over the tape (not that u had 2 keep it all cliche' WestCoast becuz that shit gets old quick too - real old, real quick).

Tracks that did it for me:

"Flight To Da Motherland" - it was raw for what it waz
"Fonk Love" - i'm not a blood but this is my shit and built that hype for me
"Gang Bangin" - loved it
"Take A Flight" - it was ight
"We On" - "i'm clubbin' like a powder head" lol, my favorite line
"Blowin' Kush" - i liked tha beat, but tha flow was so watered down omg
"Bricksquad Cartel" - 1st/2nd favorite, i can't wait for the complete version
"Haunted House" - i fucked wit this joint, just a little watery, but not bad at all, i'd get Lynch on the remix most definitely (it'd be interesting for sure)
"Presidential" - definitely not bad at all but i wouldn't make all of my commercial sounding tracks like this but it's definitely too smooth tho.
"Rosary" - decent

I think Hootie's flaw is that he needs work on his hooks.  I think once he masters that he'll be better.  Also I think he needs to "tighten up" his flow a little more, he sounds unconfident and kinda too loose like his flow is kinda wobbly (like stitch it up a little).  Since Hootie's not garbage he still has an opportunity at being an underground force and since life's unpredictable the boy might even crank out a top 20.

nah.  and now that i'm listening to it a little tipsy it don't sound too bad.  counting some of the already released tracks like "100 bottles", "pole", and "bricksquad everything" it's safe to say that it's 15 strong (that's only 9 i can do without, 1 of them being a skit).  Props 2 Hootie, i want more [no homo],  i need this untagged tho asap!

I don't like much of Hootie's new shit, everything he did before hooking up with Brick Squad was dope, only songs I dídn't like was "Pay A Fee" and "Squeeze 1st" with P. Smurf and Spider Loc. He still put out enough already for me to still consider him one of the best already, he got more dope ass songs out then damn near everybody. Hope he get's back to that old shit soon.

Full version just leaked not too long ago, the 1st version wasn't complete.

Not just to up an old thread but.. I finally like some new Hootie songs, that "I'm High" track with Smurf and Joe Moses is dope as fuck. "Zan Wit That Lean freestyle" ain't that bad either.. better then anything on Flight To The Motherland... I'm lookin' out for Red Zepplin now.

Only Fonk Love track I'm still bumpin' is "West Hattn'n" and only because of that 1 dope ass line he had on it. lol

it's funny u brought this up becuz about 2 weeks ago I replayed the album just off some random chit and I realized that it was better than I thought it was, I even replayed "The Return of Mr. Zone 6" and "Strap A Holics" and heard that they actually sounded better with some age of it (like Ice Cube say).

I wanted to make a new thread about this/2-Doe but I figured I let nature take it's course with tha people (and plus i don't owe NO nigga nothin so...).

I'm actually a little geeked for "Red Zepplin'' but the Euro's of dubcc only understand and can relate to so much so I kept it to myself.  I have a feeling that Hootie is in the midst of dropping something crazy and it's only a matter of time.  But like somebody said Hootie's gotta come with that 1 song/1 verse/Album that makes EVERYBODY re-think their opinion of 2-Doe.  I think he has potential for it so I'm just waitin on tha nigga to deliver.
