Hell no papoose was never that good! Dude had a hot streak but for the most part he just yells forced punchlines over other artist' beats

Pap never had the chance to prove himself either. How do we know, if that album never came out. Maybe he can drop one independently and we can get a better idea.

^ how so? He has good songs dating back to "nobody understands me". Not enough cuz he hasn't released an album but still enough for us to comprise about 2-3 GREAT compilations out of

That's the thing though.  Artists like Eminem, Game, Lupe, etc... have the pressure to drop albums from majors.  So they're forced to drop music that's different from a freestyle.  Crooked I doesn't so you can't compare his work to anyone else.  I think Crooked has a hard time trying to construct a song and album.  It's easier to just spaz on someone elses beat because the pressure is not there to make sales.

don't you think its sad when you have to take songs throughout a 15 year career to make a custom dope album? That's the furthest thing from consistent.

Are you annoyed that he hasn't been able to bring out an album or are you trying to say that he does not have the ability to make a classic records?

Truthfully? I don't think he can drop a classic album, though I'd love to be proven otherwise. Even though he hasn't dropped an official album, he still has projects (mixtapes, eps whatever you want to call them) and none of them have been anywhere near what I'd call classic. He's a great freestyler, but I don't think he's going to put out that great album everyone wants. He's in the same boat as Papoose.

Hmmm, I dont know man, I think he can. Its hard for me to prove it but I just heard enough shit to believe he can. I personally think he just hasn't been able to have serenity with all his drama throughout the years. I think he can do it all. I think the biggest problem is evaluating an album. Would it be a classic for you? For me? Would you go by popular opinion? Hip Hop magazines? Everyone has different opinions of classic. For instance, some people consider AMW to be Ice Cube's best album and other feel its Death Certificate. Some cats feel 2Pac had more than one, other feel his only classic was Makaveli. There's many artist that I would consider to have "classic" albums but would probably not be considered classic to Hip Hop history. I can't say he would ever be able to make a classic hip hop album but I think he can make a damn good album. After that, we can start talking about whether it can go into that unique class.

well to me.....if he drops an album filled with songs like everyday and ok bye I'll call that a weak album. If he puts out an album full of songs like Villain and better I'll call that a dope album. Realistically I think he'll drop an album that has both, meaning it will be an average album to me.

What is it about Crooked that people think he can't make songs? You guys feel he can't be conscience or that he can't tell stories? Maybe you guys can give me an example and I'll try to post a song (if I can find one) haha to maybe compare.

Ok, well there it is. So if you like the song Villain, then you agree he can make songs of that type. That was really all I was trying to figure out. I believe he can drop an album with mostly songs of that nature. Throw in some story telling and personal shit. Of course you will hear a couple songs like "everyday" that are mostly for commercial appeal. I agree that if he was to drop an album full of shit like that, it would definitely be a failure. He should mix it up but do more of a conceptual album. He has the ability, I just don't know which way he will go. It's hard for me to believe a that a guy with the knowledge he has of Hip Hop and its history, that he would not understand what it takes to make a great album.

But what percentage of his songs are like that? A lot of them are either freestyles or songs like Everyday that are just wack. That's why to me its funny to hear people try and say he's consistent.

The reason people say he can't make songs is because most of his music is just freestyles over beats. Mr. Pigface Weapon Waist is a perfect example. I don't think there's one song on that EP that actually said something, its all freeverse with a hook attached. I can point to a song like Villain or Let Me Buy You a Drink as examples of good songs but those songs are in the minority.

Well he is consistent with freestyles haha. I just think people need to wait, let him drop an album and then lets start the critical analysis. I enjoy his freestyles but like mostly everyone, Im tired as well. Actually I've been tired since waaay back. I just decided to forget it and wait until something drops. He did Slaughterhouse which was very nice IMO and now I'm sure his album is next. I used to question his ability to make albums in the past but he changed my mind the last couple of years. He will drop that album sooner than later. Hopefully its a dandy. Im hoping for shit that sounds like this.....

If you understand where Crooked comes from, you understand the message on these tracks.
