Your right bro... Like Lucky Dube says, "you can change the style of reggae, you can change the rythym of reggae, but never ever change the message".  It's a positive message that's good for the soul because most Reggae artist are Irie on Ganja when they record the music so it hits deep in the subconscious and is very introspective.   I don't honestly know what you mean by Roots Reggae I will look it up, but you know I don't listen to a lot of dancehall reggae, I listen to what you might call the softer Reggae I guess.  Stuff I heard when I was over in West Africa, what was popular there I listen to when I want to remember my times there and take my mind to another place, but it's not really compatible with the life here, so I don't think I'd be into it if not for my travels

Roots reggae.. roots like the beginning.. not ska but more the wailers but i like jah cure, jah mason.  Yes reggae music is very concious and love a dub!!
