Declaime aka Dudley Perkins new album: Self Study
« on: August 29, 2011, 09:16:01 AM »
Declaime aka Dudley Perkins brings the heat with new studio album, Self
Study, on July 12, 2011. The documentary included in Self Study,
Interplanetary Peace Talks, features old, rare footage of long time friends
Madlib, Oh No and Kankick from the early days in Oxnard, California.
Self Study is an introspective look at Perkins’ own self growth. Album art
from the acclaimed Japanese painter and animator, Tokio, fold out poster and
features from Prince Po (Organized Konfusion), Kev Brown, MED (Stones Throw)
and Reverend Michael Beckwith (Agape) among others set Self Study apart.
“Self Study is an acknowledgement of the transformation I’ve been going
through. This album is a self help tool for me and others to raise the
vibration in you to a more positive level,” says Perkins.

The album serves as a wakeup call and a tool to raise the vibration of
planet Earth. Produced entirely by artist/producer Georgia Anne Muldrow,
Self Study hits all the G&D signature marks: funk, hip hop and visionary
lyrics. Title track, “Self Study” is an uplifting jam that sums up the
Perkin’s mantra “everything we get, we gotta give.”
“Coonspiracy” is a funky truth telling classic with Perkins asking the
question “why you want to hate on me when I’m trying to set those suckers
free.”
Perkins first gained acclaim in the hip hop world “WLIX” from The Alkaholiks
Coast II Coast album in 1995. He featured on hip hop classics such as Break
Dat Party from The Lootpack’s Soundpieces: Da Antidote LP (he also did the
cover illustrations), T.Biggums from Oh No’s Exodus into Unheard Rhythms,
and Love Hardcore off KanKick’s From Artz Unknown LP to name a few. Perkins’
releases include Illmindmusik, Andsoitissaid, Mad Men On Arrival, A Lil’
Light, Conversations With Dudley, The Dank And Jammy Show, Expressions 2012
A. U. , Beautiful Minds, The Message Uni Versa, Holy Smokes, SomeOthaShip
and FONK.
