Black Eyed Peas 'to split' after pulling out of Michael Jackson tribute show

Black Eyed Peas are preparing to announce that they will be permanently splitting up, according to tabloid reports.

The band pulled out of this weekend's Michael Jackson tribute concert at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium yesterday (October 5), citing "unavoidable circumstances". This has reportedly meant they have had to forfeit a fee of £1.5 million.

The group had already announced an indefinite hiatus in July, although will.i.am insisted it was just a break, tweeting: "The @Bep will take a break after the beginning...just like we did from monkey business to the e.n.d...but it doesn't mean we stop creating." Bandmate Fergie also said, "this isn't the last time you'll see us."

However, an unnamed source has told The Daily Mirror that the band are about to split permanently.

Pulling out of this weekend’s gig is the final curtain call for them – especially as they’re all such huge Jacko fans. Things have been taking a turn for the worse over the past few months but this signals the end.

well i can't say that i ever really got into them, at least not after their very first album without fergie. since that album, i never saw the need to have those other 2 members that no one cares about. maybe fergie and will.i.am will start working with each other only now

Black eyed peas suck. I have never seen the hype with them. Their over-rated "cliché" song "where is the love" wasn't that good IMO, but it got mad love everywhere

I've always seen the Black Eyed Peas as a watered down version of the Fugees, but more pop than Fugees ever were to be considered Hip Hop

Possibly the most overrated group of all time, and certainly not deserving of their success. Especially considering how talented Will.I.Am actually is. he sold his soul for the money. Fair enough, he's not the first to do it and won't be the last, but the guy could have been incredible.

His debut solo LP 'Lost Change OST' was brilliant IMO, and some of his production work for Nas & The Game shows he can drop a proper beat too.

He needs to use this as an excuse to go back to the music he loves because he's already made his money, but unfortunately I'm guessing he'll just come out solo and do another pop album with people like Cheryl Cole and Usher.

The beat he done for Talib Kweli (hot thing) was alright as wekll and suited Talib Kweli. This wasn't getting pushed out for the charts or anything, so you can see that he is still more than capable, but the group Black Eyed Peas are terrible. Production terrible, hype terrible
