Boyz N The Hood star & Hip Hop legend Ice Cube has teamed up with Pacific Standard Time to highlight the LA art scene. This non-profit campaign has featured Jason Schwartzman, John Baldessari, Anthony Kiedis, and Ed Ruscha all with the same objective: to encourage SoCal to get into museums and celebrate art. PST is encouraging museum attendance by hosting events all over LA and will continue their efforts with the release of their third pairing featuring Ice Cube & Ray/Charles Eames.

The campaign pairing of Ice Cube and Eames highlights iconic LA architecture, including the Forum and the Watts Towers. Ice Cube gives a brief history of the Eames couple and shows how they used standard, off the shelf materials to build a home that incorporated nature into their architecture design in just 2 days. The Eames knew it wasn't about the individual pieces, but how those pieces worked together.

Pacific Standard Time is an unprecedented collaboration of cultural institutions across Southern California coming together to celebrate the birth of the L.A. art scene. Beginning October 2011, over 60 cultural institutions will make their contributions to this region-wide initiative encompassing every major L.A. art movement from 1945 to 1980.

Initiated through $10 million in grants from the Getty Foundation, Pacific Standard Time is a non-profit organization that involves cultural institutions of every size and character across Southern California, from Greater Los Angeles to San Diego and Santa Barbara to Palm Springs.

Beautiful footage!

Pacific Standard Time Presents "Ice Cube Celebrates The Eames" (Short Video Edit)
Ice Cube drives Inglewood blvd. describing the Los Angeles that he knows. He talks of landmarks like The Forum, Five Torches, Cockatoo Inn, Brolly Hut & Watts Towers. He refers to the 110 as "Gangsta Highway". Cube says coming from South Central LA teaches you how to be resourceful. The video cuts to Cube walking the Eames House perimeter, through the Eames living room & sitting in the Eames lounge chair. He brings us back to his NWA years when he studied architectural drafting before launching his rap career. One thing he learned that translates is to always have a plan. Cube describes the modern, green & resourceful building design of Charles & Ray Eames. Visionaries of connecting nature & structure. Cube ends by saying "Who are these people who got a problem with LA? Maybe they mad cuz they don't live here."
