Did the Lions overpay for Calvin Johnson?

In my eyes, Calvin Johnson is the best wide receiver of all-time. As far as build goes, he's the LeBron James of wideouts. It's not his fault he doesn't have Montana throwing him a football.

Stafford is an amazing QB no way in hell you can use the lebron excuses with calvin johnson.

All I'm saying is he isn't Montana. I mean, when I say Calvin is the best, naturally you look at me & say "Jerry?". But QB's make the careers of WR's.

Yes they overpaid, but they didn't really have a choice. They let Johnson walk, they alienate the fans and risk taking steps back. With their history, they can't risk that.
