"How to rob" was just a glimse of fame..
He was virtually unknown to the regular hiphop-buyer.
"How to rob" made a buzz because 50 made fun of famous acts, and people overlooked the fact that 50 had doper tracks than this..
He made a lot of dope tracks, but what does that help when you get fucked over by your label?
His label didn't even want to have meetings with 50, because they were scared of him, and partly his enemies.
They saw 50 and his crew coming to meetings with bulletproof vests, and that scared them off, as well as the shooting-incident.
So that argument doesn't hold weight.. people might have known about the name 50 Cent, but very few people actually checked out other stuff than "How to rob".
It's quite difficult making a buzz for yourself when you don't have a label, but 50 did it either way through mixtape-DJ's.
