And the addicts aren't there against their will really, it's just that they have no free will because of the addiction. Or not enough anyway.

I'd say the reasons for much of the misery within American society i.e. serious addictions are not freedom but its relatively merciless mindstate but I get what you mean.

its the freedom to have a "merciless" mindstate or whatever mindstate thats the point.  and dont believe everything you see on tv, the us isnt what its made out to be.
