Judging from the 150 tracks Ive heard from him, I'd say after he got shot.
Not only did his voice become more unique & catchy, his flow became much tighter, and he developed his sing-a-rap style further.
His hooks was given a new dimension as well.
Btw, it's pretty obvious that NIK didn't use to listen to 50 before he signed with Shady since he thinks that 50 stole Fab's flow, and not vice versa.

Kid, it's not 50's fault that Fabolous stole 50's and also Ma$e's flow.
2Pac didn't get lame after tha Realest & Krazy stole his sound, voice & image did he??
