Who gives a shit, die!
At the end of the day who gives a shit. Nobody knows who Kendrick Lamar is (not literally of course and besides his fan base) and nobody gives a shit about Dr. Dre and Aftermath (besides myself of course and excluding Eminem). This whole "tease" shit isn't gonna work anymore, it's not the right formula for them or frankly anybody in the music industry anymore. I feel Dre on wanting to move on even tho if I was him I woulda gave my legions of fans something more than than what he did. It's a brand new day and everybody is a brand new artist and producer, mostly in fault to Dr. Dre. This whole shenanigan of saying a release date JUST SOLELY for the purpose of getting hype is not gonna work, Kendrick just isn't that nice and he's not THAT popular, try again.

Dr. Dre is a "brand new artist" too in terms of today's hip hop as well.

Whatever weed you're smoking on or french fries you're chomping on is some powerfull stuff. A "brand new artist" would not have tens of thousands of people at their show like at Coachilla. I agree Kendrick is going to have to earn that spot, however to say Dr. Dre is a "brand new artist" to this generation of hip-hop is absurd.
In other words, Dre has failed with tha leaks (outside of "Shit Popped Off"), he failed with "Kush", and he failed with "I Need A Doctor" (and the reason why it did so well is becuz it was an Eminem record and without Eminem it wouldn't have sold shit becuz that song covered NONE of his demographics and the general response to it was underwhelming). The music business is sophisticated. Just becuz people know u doesn't mean shit nowadays. Mad people got love for Curren$y and he's probably sold millions of tickets throughout the past few years but yet he never breaks 100K (from what I can think of right now). Verses Dr. Dre of this era who sold 1 or 2 million downloads of "I Need A Doctor" and nobodies playin his shit today. Dre don't have that enthusiasm like that no more, he's played himself with all of those false release dates and dropped artists. None of what I'm saying is random
Oh I know Kendrick has a pretty cool fanbase (even tho we don't know how that translates in corporate terms just yet) and I'm not trying to be negative (I'm riding with EVERYBODY from The Ruthless Family Tree til the day I die). And @ichi I know u agree, why, becuz a lot of people know it. Kendrick Lamar is still a "brand new artist" commercially and that's the platform he's risen to (on his own). Dr. Dre is a "brand new artist" too in terms of today's hip hop as well. They've gotten too comfortable at Aftermath and Interscope and it shows, that's why they're still pulling the same stunts from 2008 thinking its gonna work in 2012 and 2013 just becuz Eminem is still sellin 4milli and Dre is banking 9figures (I even have the earbuds). Kendrick and Dre/Aftermath have to fight for that spot again, the game just isnt gonna hand it to em based on the early and mid 2000's. People want more and they want new material. They have it a little better than most folks, true, but at this point the "what have u done for me lately" echo is starting to holla at em and it's getting louder. And for the record I'd be a fan of Kendrick's even if he wasn't on Aftermath or Dre associated (I still wanna hear sum shit now that they've been in the studio tho, too late niggas).
