Tha Row artist plays villain in second big screen foray

Kurupt will be making his sophomore movie appearance in United Artists' Dark Blue, a police action drama slated for a February 21st release.

In a role that mirrors the West Coast rapper's gangsta persona, Kurupt plays a cold-blooded killer hunted by Kurt Russell, who portrays the top cop in the LAPD's elite Special Investigations Squad. Dark Blue also stars Brendan
Gleeson, Scott Speedman, Michael Michele, Lolita Davidovich, and Ving Rhames. The movie was directed by Ron Shelton (White Men Can't Jump) from a screenplay by David Ayer, story by James Ellroy.

Dark Blue marks Kurupt's second appearance on the big screen in four months, hot on the heels of last year's action thriller Half Past Dead, which saw Tha Row artist playing a convict named "Switch" opposite action movie staple
Steven Seagal.

One half of the multi-platinum selling Death Row group Tha Dogg Pound, Kurupt started his rap career with appearances on two of the biggest rap albums ever, The Chronic and Doggystyle. The West Coast rapper became a personal favorite of legendary rap mogul Suge Knight, who took the newcomer under his wing.

A decade later, the alliance continues as Kurupt prepares to release Against the Grain for Knight and his new Tha Row label. Kurupt's song "I'm Back" appears on Tha Row's Dysfunktional Family compilation, due out in stores March 25th.
