for the record funk came from new jersey aka the parliament funkadelics

i know, but i was talking about HIPHOP ;)
so am i. if it originally came from here it's not a west coast sound. niggas like epmd was using the shit on they albums back in the late 80's before the west was.

i would say that the p-funk sound and midwestfunk-sound has the biggest influence on g-funk, but it ain't g-funk. some of the characteristics like the darker sound and the slower tempo is very original....for example blues is the root of r&b but that don't mean that r&b and blues is the same.
and epmd was also a big inluence, but their sound is no g-funk. even if they sampled zapp all over every record.
sorry funk lord, but you are totally wrong . epmd was the originators of g-funk sound but that means west coast did not invent that . so that hurts. just like east coast invented gangsta rap not West coast. really R&B & blues are mostly same thing . R&B stands for rhythm & blues . so again you wrong .

i know the early epmd-albums and to me it sound nothin like g-funk. like i said, it had a big influence on g-funk but it sounds different.
'and yeah, i know that r&b means "rythm and blues", but it's a genre in it's own right you can't denie that

Just sampling P-Funk doesn't make something G-Funk at all...

G-Funk normally has -
Slower tempo
Replayed, live instrumentation, particularly with the whiny synth and bassline
A big part is the content, talking about gang stuff, low-riders, etc.
Also the actual flow normally has the thing where they slide off the end of the beat, so they're rhyming behind the beat...

EPMD doesn't really have any of that... they've got a dope East coast sound that just happens to sample
funk stuff... but then MOST of the earlier hip-hop in general sampled funk music,
but it didn't make it all G-Funk

real talk ..the vibe, philosophy is completly different .. multi instrumentation, synth pad, chords progression , slower tempo etc

sampling P-Funk does kind of make it G-Funk  but that means the west coast did not invent it & that hurts lot of you feelings . just like east coast invented gangata rap not west coast . west coast has bit everything from the east coast since the early 80's & those are facts

sampling P-Funk does kind of make it G-Funk

Sampling P-Funk does not make something G-Funk, as detailed above.
