Mr. Doctor - Setripin Bloccstyle

In the mid-1990s, gangsta rap was showing no signs of decreasing in popularity. Unfortunately, the style hadn't changed much since the late 1980s, and quite a few gangsta releases sounded extremely tired and cliched. One painfully obvious example is Setripn' Bloccstyle by Mr. Doctor, a California MC whose style was influenced by Snoop Doggy Dogg. The melodic, keyboard-driven tracks, most of them produced by Sacramento rapper Brotha Lynch Hung, are decent, and Mr. Doctor's flow isn't bad. But his raps on gang violence in "the hood" and smoking "the chronic" (strong marijuana) are about as unoriginal as hip-hop gets. What Doctor does throughout this forgettable CD had been done countless times before, and he brings no new or interesting insights to the table. Lynch Hung raps on four tunes, but his cameos aren't nearly as interesting as the twisted "horror rap" he delivered on his own album, Season of Da Siccness. -Allmusic.com

he still dropped some nice joints here and there, but nothin that could come close to this one.

cuz it wasnt his album......
i guess u have 2 come with the same style every time

he produced every trac on that album but 1
and his beats arent even the same...
totally switched up his style 2 fit the artist...
and did it rather well....a sign of a dope producer......
funny yall say his albums past that suk...
cuz he hasnt had him producing 4 him after that record

no matter what, that album is a straight classic. i dont care if what Doc is rapping about; someone rapped about it previously before, it doesn't change the fact that its a good album and thats why its hard to find now, well atleast i can't find it no more. i disagree with the person that did that review of the album. i think its a 5 star album
