Lance Armstrong coming forward on Oprah
« on: January 19, 2013, 12:20:46 PM »
I know Americans don't give a motherfuck about cycling (let's face it it's most of the time boring as shit I had to endure le Tour de France each summer all though my childhood years) but exposing the biggest fraud (arguably) in the history of sports deserved at least a thread. I'm sure he must have gotten a nice check for this though, and it's a great way for Oprah to get her struggling channel major exposure

anyway, dude looks like a straight up sociopath LOL, no remorse, no sign of genuine contrition, mild apologies to the people he shamelessly bullied and harassed for years (and for some of them, ruined their reputation & lives). dude is fascinating, it's not so much the doping which is scary but the machine behind and his character. biopic material right here.

Yeah, I don't really give a shit about the whole steroids thing considering the fact that they couldn't even award his titles to the runner ups cause they were dirty too. Just the fact that he ruined so many people with his law suits is what makes me think he's a piece of shit.

The best thing about his denial is tht all the ther top cyclists were already caught juicing, so he expected us to believe that he was so good that he could comeback from cancer and without any roids he could wipe the floor the very roided up competition.

it's not so much the doping which is disturbing but the fact that the guy defiantly and aggressively denied all accusations, and created a shameless cover with his livestrong so-called charity (which seems to be more of a business than anything else, i.e. his interview). dude made everything possible to keep his lie safe, he had no qualms trash talking people, spreading rumors, blackballing them if they got in his way, eventually ruining their careers and sometimes their lives. Check Greg Lemond

also the next level which he took doping too, but yeah he's only the tip of the iceberg.

I've followed cycling since the mid 90's (against my will often lol), and looking back Armstrong was just an average athlete which decided to take it to the next level at any cost. while I can admire his determination and willingness to do whatever it takes to win, that doesn't make him a great champion, but rather a great athlete (because finishing the Tour de France is always an incredible feat, roided up or not) with no moral issues and honor whatsoever. I liked him although I always thought he wasn't clean (i didn't think many people are) and I even defended him at some point (although I've always preferred Miguel Indurain and Jan Ulrich), , but his strong arm and intimidation tactics put me off, as well as his arrogance (which is a quality in sports I think but to a degree). Thank god the USADA took over the case, because had this investigation been made by say, International or French authorities (a French lab had already authentified Armstrong's doping in 2009 i think), this would have never had any pull.

Right, I don't follow cycling by any stretch of the imagination but I don't think anyone'es hating on him just for taking roids. It's the fact that he ruined all those people with his BS lawsuits and portrayed himself as some kind of deity that was above all imorrals.

Of course he denied it.

As for the lawsuits, they didnt really ruin anyone did they?  I hadnt thought he actually won anything.
