wutr ur opinions on Dr. Dre stealin Above The Laws style from Black Mafia Life 2 use on The Chronic? do u think he stoled it? or wutr ur thoughts on it

I was thinking about starting a thread on this, 'cause I'd like someone with a clearer idea than me on what happened to tell me what supposedly went down. I can see where the ideas cross over: Never Missin' A Beat versus Dre Day; the use of the Let Me Ride hook in the bridge of one track on BML; the same Knee Deep-influenced riff on both Never Missin A Beat and Snoop's verse of Stranded On Death Row...

But what really happened? I mean, I prefer The Chronic hugely, but I'm interested to know just how much of the formula was Dre's own...

Anyone know?

well Dre also took the Never missin a beat thing 4 alot of shit on doggystyle but i was thinkin  maybe Dre kinda helped out on Black Mafia Life cuz it came out n 91 and Eazy kinda shout outs Dre sayin "alrite this shit is fly, i kno dre didnt do the muthaphucker" sayin its tite even though dre didnt do it so i dunno lol

Personally I like Black Mafia Life better. Even though both CD's are incredable. I just think The ATL record had more quality songs. Of coarse some little changes could of made it better, but hey im not complaining. Its one of my best cds.

I talked to somebody at a record store about it and he was sayin that Dre was workin with the Above the law album, i guess as producer, and I don't remember if ATL was supposed to drop the album on Death Row or what, but for whatever reason Dre stopped workin on the album. Instead, he used the same concepts and all for the Chronic. If this is not right, it is somethin related between camps.

this shit will never be settled, but ive read a lot about it and my take is thus:

Dre and Hutch worked together at Ruthless, both had similar musical tastes and influenced each other. They both came out with there own version of 'g-funk'. Hutch's was more raw and pure funk-driven, dre's more polished and commercially viable. Dre never mentioned Hutch, ATL got pissed, ladidadi wooptee doo. as far as im concerned they both came up with the sound, but took it in different directions

How can he steal it? Is it in a bag at the back of the studio or somethin?  He didn't steal crap, they both just went the same direction with their music.

ic where ur commin from so ill rephrase it wudda u think about Dre BITIN ATLs funk? i mean i guess u could say they went n the same direction but at the same time? theres gotta b sumthin fishy there 2 u 2 and they were both at Ruthless the same time
