Torn Achilles is no joke. Tore mine when I was 15 years old. That's 18 years ago now, but it was months and months of strenuous rehab after surgery, and it was never the same anyway. Of course, I wasn't an elite athlete like Kobe. Best of luck to him. If he comes back at the same level it'll just be another feather in his cap

dominique wilkins is the best case scenario for the most part. given kobe's age etc he's probably looking at 9-12 months out. heaps of people come back from a ruptured achillies and are nowhere near the player they used to be (billups, mehmet okur). i would say kobe comes back somewhere in the middle, wont be as quick as he once was, will probably develop more of an outside shot, but still hit 20-25 per game with ease
