Nas - Life Is Good (Appreciation Thread)
« on: May 09, 2013, 03:58:59 AM »
I just now finally got a chance to bump this from the beginning to the end and damn, Nas is my favorite MC and i really slept on this album for a long time. I remember playin' the first couple of songs of the album when the album came out and i wasn't feelin' the "old school" beats and thought i'd listen to the album later and then just kind of forgot about it even though like i said, Nas been my favorite MC for years. I wouldn't say this album is better than "Good Kid, Maaad City" but it's one of the best albums of 2012. I still don't like a couple of the songs on the album, like the singles, but other than that, this is a great fuckin album. It's a damn shame i just now got into this. I need to get this with the deluxe edition songs, they're all good. It's a god damn shame that "Trust" is just an iTunes bonus song. Fuck iTunes.

I was a few months late on it personally, but it was very impressive. Interesting that you were initially put off by the "old school" sound, I found it really appealing on tracks like "Nasty," "Loco-motive," etc. I enjoyed the production a lot in general which hasn't really been the case with a lot of his albums. As big of a fan as I've been through the years  I didn't really go in expecting much, but he did a great job. I liked it more than anything he's put out since Stillmatic. As for GKMC, I liked this a lot more. I'll take the straight hip hop sound any day even though I do like Kendrick.

Too soon to truly appreciate it.

But it was one of the better albums in the last decade. Excited to see where he takes his next album.

Great album, def best album last year. I wasn't feelin "The Don" when it was first released, but once I bought the cd at best buy I jammed it in the whip and was blown away, that song is bananas.

Great album. Just wondering what on earth possessed him to make Summer on Smash.

The label without a doubt. Worst song on the album. I never make it past "bad bitches, champagne wishes..." then it gets skipped. The song right after it is one of my favorite songs on the album though.

Summer on Smash is dope (minus Miguel trying to rap). My only issue is: why put the song on the album and not release it as a single? It'd be fly if he released it this summer lol
