Possible 2pac Murder Suspect Killed Posted Thursday, March 6, 2003 by o2In 1997 2pac's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against several people, including Jerry Bonds a Southside Crip. Bonds was murdered at a club after a fight. Here's the article:LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Def Jam Records and the Conga Room, a popular Los Angeles nightclub, have been sued by the mother of a shooting victim who alleged there was inadequate security at a party in which her son was slain, the defendants said on Thursday. In the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, Beverly Jackson, the mother of Jerry Bonds, filed the wrongful-death lawsuit, seeking unspecified damages from the label, a unit of Vivendi Universal, and the Conga Room, where her son was shot and killed. A spokesman for Def Jam said the label was not directly involved with the party and there no Def Jam artists at the event. "While we have not seen the complaint, this was not a company-sponsored event," it said in a statement. According to an invitation to the event obtained by Reuters, the party was thrown by a group known as the National Turntablist Association, a disc jockey group, which could not be reached for comment. The invitation describes the event as a listening party for LL Cool J, a Def Jam artist, although sources close to Def Jam said the group used the artist's name without its permission. A source close to the label said it was looking into possibly pursuing litigation against the group for trademark infringement. The lawsuit alleges that party organizers "knew or should have known that foreseeable criminal acts were likely to occur unless strict steps were taken" to secure the event. Gary Jacobs, a lawyer for the Conga Room, said he believed the case was without merit. "We certainly feel sympathy for the family," he added. The Los Angeles Times cited police as saying that Bonds, a reputed gang member, was killed after a fistfight in an upstairs hallway of the club escalated. Bonds was reputed to be a member of the Southside Crips, the Compton gang implicated in the 1996 murder of rap star Tupac Shakur, The Los Angeles Times said. Jacobs said that according to court filings in a case dating back to 1997, Bonds was sued by the family of Tupac Shakur for wrongful death. this was the first thing on fan2fan i thought it was interesting
